Zooming and Centering the Screen
You can zoom in and out of your desk in two ways: pinch to zoom on your trackpad, or use the minus and plus buttons in the bottom right corner of the screen. Zooming out gives you a wider view of everything on your desk at once, while zooming in lets you focus on a single card in more detail.
If your view has drifted or a card has moved off screen, press the center button (next to the minus button) to snap your desk back to its default centered position.
Finding a Card
As you add more cards to your desk, it can get crowded. To jump straight to a card you've already placed, press the pancake icon in the top left corner. This opens a search panel listing every card currently on your desk. Type in the search bar to filter the list, or scroll to find the card you're looking for, then select it to jump directly to its location on the desk.
Using the Sidebar
The sidebar on the left gives you quick access to your caseload and account tools without leaving your current view.
Show or hide the sidebar: Press the sidebar toggle to expand it. To collapse it, click on the arrow at the top right of the sidebar.
My Desk: Press the My Desk icon to return to your Teacher Desk from anywhere in the platform.
Student names: Press any student's name in your caseload list to navigate directly to that student's Student Desk.
Quick Log: Press the + Quick Log button to open a service log entry for a student without navigating away from where you are.
Notifications: Press the notifications bell to view updates from discussion board posts or tasks that have been assigned to you.
Adding, Moving, Removing, and Editing a Card
Cards are the building blocks of your desk, and Tandem gives you full control over what appears and where.
Adding a card: Press the + button in the top left corner of your desk to open the "Add to desk" panel. From here, search for a specific card by name or browse the list of Desk Tools (such as Students, Task Tracker, Sticky Note, Table, and To Do List), and press the + next to any item to add it to your desk.
Editing a card: Every card has a gear icon. Pressing it opens a menu where you can change the card's color, copy a shareable link to it, or delete it entirely.
Moving a card: Each card also has a six-dot handle. Click and drag this handle to reposition the card anywhere on your desk.
Adding a Tab
Both Teacher Desks and Student Desks support multiple tabs, so you can organize cards by purpose (for example, keeping your caseload separate from a task tracker or planning space). To add a new tab, press the + button on the tab bar at the bottom of the desk. Double click on the tab name to rename it. You can also click on the three-dot menu to delete a tab.
Documents
Press the Documents button in the top right corner of your desk to open the Documents panel. From there, press Upload to add a new file. Once your file is uploaded, you have options to edit its details, preview the file, download it, or delete it.
Documents are organized into four categories:
My Docs: Files you've uploaded that aren't tied to a specific student. Use this for general resources you want easy access to.
Student Docs: Files tagged with a student's name. These are visible to every provider on that student's caseload, making this the right place for work samples, exit tickets, or worksheets.
Critical Files: Essential legal documents tied to a student's special education programming, such as IEPs, evaluations, and behavior plans.
Logs: Session records you've recorded, whether finalized or still in draft form.
